Training Report 6/7-6/13

So my Training weeks will always start on a Monday, just to accomodate with school schedule, and it will end on Sundays of course.

So Monday and Tuesday, 6/7 and 6/8, were off days. Monday was intended to be a rest day, while Tuesday I had poll work.

Wednesday was the official start of the week (for this week) and I kicked it off by riding with Kenneth. When I met with him he had already started riding, but he and I continued to do Sprint Intervals on Callan, Southbound Sprint and Northbound recovery. Then we moved over to Gellert Boulevard for a more challenging sprint as the road there has some uphill resistance, Southbound. Kenneth finished early then I continued to South San Francisco's bart trails to close my ride up at around 30 Miles.

Thursday I took a Moderate-Hard pace to King's Mountain to do some climbing. I did the climb at about 32 minutes. My goal for this year is to get a 25 mintue climb on King's Mountain. During the climb, I realized my legs were out of shape for climbing, so I have to focus on climbing for the weeks to come.

Friday I was tired so I took an easy recovery ride via San mateo, on the Crystal Springs trails. The weather was great and it felt better with the loads of scenery.

Saturday I went back to Canada Road at a Moderate Pace, doing about 45 miles.

Sunday I had the opportunity to go back to Canada Road, but unlike Saturday I was able to go all the way to the town of Woodside.

This week was productive on the bike I'm too lazy to post the actual data, but I did about 195miles, 13hours.

San Bruno Hill Climb Race Report

(This was form January 2010)

After all the anticipation building up, i finally let it out at the 2010 San Bruno Mountain Hill Climb. The course 3.5 Miles of pure climbing. That means no flats or no Descents, although there was ONE dip but it wasn’t significant to recover.

I met up with my biking partner Ken and we drove to the event. We registered and warmed up on our respective trainers. I was happy to be warm enough to take off both my arm and leg warmers, wearing nothing but Spandex Shorts and My Biking Jersey.

The race was starting. The start was organized into the seperate categories of racing. I believe the Juniors were the 4th group to start. When we started i was so excited, and that rush of excitment motivated me.

The very start of the race is a lengthy climb, i practiced and discliplined myself to not climb it fast in order to save energy for the rest of the course, that being said, i was now a part of a small peloton group which was forming and i started to draft the end.

A gap was forming between the lead group and I, and i was focusing to stay behind one rider who was from team Davis Cycling club. There was a gap between me and him and with a lot of effort i was able to close it. It was getting very hot and i was now at the actual mountain. There was lots of cheering and motivation, and in the end i was content with my effort.

The results are not up yet, however i believe i placed in the top 10 with a time of under 19 minutes, hopefully.

The race was a great experience, and it was a great way to start the new year. I can’t wait for my next one, which is the Early Bird Road Race on January 23 in Fremont.

Happy New Year everyone.

End of the Third Month Review

Dubbed “The Worst Month” of 2010 (So Far). It sucked so bad it’s funny. Get a load of this!

•375 Miles for the Month•One, 100+ Mile within 6 hours
•27 Hour Total Monthly Ride Time
•3 Interval Days lasting an hour or longer
•20 Miles In Less than 1 Hour, 6 Minutes
•San Bruno Hill Climb Route 18:10 or below
•Strength Train Once a Week
•Time Myself On Canada Road Stretch

Those were my goals at the beginning of the month, and i completed NONE of them. How terrible is that LOL.

For the month, i only did 303 Miles with a Monthly Ride time of 20 hours.

Thats What i’m supposed to be doing in one week!

SO let’s break it down. Rain towards the end of the month, but not enough to stop me. Homework stress, and I got sick with a heavy cold on one week. Then relationship problems with girlfriend, so i became discouraged to ride after the 27th, even on the damn trainer.

Then we have Junior Prom. Well really I honestly enjoyed it but it stressed me out enough to be disgusted about riding.

Damn, I hope April is Better!

April Goals and Aspirations (From Tumblr)

So the month just started, but I’m excited for this month? Why? Because this month will bring changes to not only cycling, but the other parts of my life. I’m single now, which means I can dedicate time which would’ve been used up, on friends, academics, and ultimately cycling :)

I also have some good news concerning my overall health. I weigh 115 pounds, which means I am 10 pounds off my “limit” which means i’m not afraid to gain 10 pounds of muscle mass for my upper body. I’m mainly working on the chest and the upper arms (biceps, triceps) and the shoulders. The rest of the body can be trained by the bike.

Still unsure if I can lower my bedtime, and get at least 7 hours of sleep. My optimal will be 8 hours of sleep.

And even though it’s on May 1, i’m excited for the Race in Los Gatos, i want to at least finish it, then get top ten, or better yet a Podium position.

Unfortuneatley, March did not bring great results, so i need to set the saem goals for March for April.
Here they are

375 Miles for the Month One
100+ Mile within 6.5 hours
27 Hour Total Monthly Ride Time
3 Interval Days lasting an hour or longer 20 Miles In Less than 1 Hour, 9 Minutes
San Bruno Hill Climb Route 18:10 or below
Strength Train Twice a Week
Time Myself On Canada Road Stretch

I’ll leave out aspirations because i’m too lazty to think =p
That is all!

Testing

Test! Hello =)
